SITE VISIT 1
A full day visit to the Olkaria Geothermal Field will provide the experience to view the Olkaria 1 unit IV & V power plant at East Field and the installations generating 140MW commissioned in February 2015. In addition to a relaxing lunch at the Geothermal Spa located in the Hells Gate National Park you will also visit and be briefed on the latest technology in action including the, wellhead generator unit, discharging well and a working drilling rig.
Delegates will see:
- Wellhead Generator Unit – a mobile power plant enabling early generation from single wells before construction of large power plants
- Discharging Well – a well which has been assembled and opened for the flow test to characterize its reservoir parameters including its power output
- Working Drilling Rig – KenGen’s 2000 HP electric land rig that has a capacity to drill wells up to a depth of 7,000m.

SITE VISIT 2
Our first stop will be a visit to the Giraffe Centre which is the creation of the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife, a Kenyan non-profit organisation established to educate Kenyan school children and youth on their country’s wildlife and environment. The Centre also gives local and international visitors an opportunity to feed the giraffes from a raised observation platform creating a wonderful experience to come into close contact with the world’s tallest species.
Born from one family’s passion for Kenya and its wilderness, the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust is today the most successful orphan-elephant rescue and rehabilitation program in the world and one of the pioneering conservation organisations for wildlife and habitat protection in East Africa. Delegates will have the opportunity to witness the Nairobi Nursery during the elephant orphans’ 11am to 12noon daily mud bath hour.
Lunch will follow at Carnivore Restaurant which is set in attractive tropical gardens and is the ultimate 'Beast of a Feast'. A variety of meats including ostrich, crocodile and camel, are roasted over charcoal and carved at your table in addition to delicious side dishes and an exceptional array of sauces that also includes soup, a selection of desserts and Kenyan coffee.
